Star Records DVD

Once again one saunters into Star records seeking one thing and saunters out with something completely different. I was in on Thursday looking for a 7" and instead after a conversation about Garth Hudson and the Sadies left with this DVD.
It begins in 1966 with the demise of the old studio star system and weaves a tale of how a cadre of like-minded director hopefuls scaled the Hollywood walls and took over the asylum. Great footage of very young Lucas, Spielberg, Scorsese, Coppola, Polanski, Bogdanovich and interviews about the creation of Bonnie & Clyde, Easy Rider, Mean Streets, Jaws, Star Wars, American Graffiti, Last Picture Show. Mean Streets was co-produced by the then manager of The Band, Jonathan Taplin, hence the connection via Star.
